The matchup between Oleksandr Usyk and Rico Verhoeven is officially set for May 23, 2026.

Billed as "Glory in Giza," the fight is scheduled to take place at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. This is a massive crossover event pitting the unified heavyweight boxing champion against the long-reigning "King of Kickboxing."

Rico will enter the ring significantly larger than Usyk. He usually weighs in between 253 lbs and 270 lbs, giving him a roughly 30–40 lb weight advantage over the Ukrainian champion.

Rico has one professional boxing match under his belt from over a decade ago. He fought Janos Finfera in April 2014, winning by second-round knockout. Since then, he has focused exclusively on his record-breaking run in kickboxing, which makes this jump to a WBC Heavyweight Title fight against Oleksandr Usyk incredibly daring

Rico has enlisted Peter Fury to lead his training camp. This is a strategic move, as Peter was the architect behind Tyson Fury’s victory over Wladimir Klitschko. He is specifically working on Rico's jab and footwork to neutralize Usyk’s "Soviet School" movement.
